Description

β-galactosidase is coded by a gene (lac z) in the lac operon of Escherichia coli. It is a metalloenzyme that splits lactose into glucose and galactose. It hydrolyzes terminal, non-reducing β-D-galactose residues in β-D-galactosides.
GenScript Rabbit Anti-β-Galactosidase Polyclonal Antibody may be used as a primary antibody for the detection and purification of recombinant fusion proteins, which expressed by a vector containing β-galactosidase.
GenScript Rabbit Anti-β-Galactosidase Polyclonal Antibody is highly purified from rabbit antiserum by protein G chromatography and is supplied as a 100 μl aliquot at a concentration of 10 mg/ml in PBS, pH7.4, containing 0.02% sodium azide.

Storage

The antibody is stable for 2-3 weeks if stored at 2-8°C. For long term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing cycles.

Specificity

GenScript Rabbit Anti-β-Galactosidase Polyclonal Antibody reacts with β-galactosidase from E. coli showing a 464 kDa band (tetramer) under non-reducing conditions of SDS-PAGE and 116 kDa band under reducing conditions.

Applications

Working concentrations for specific applications should be determined by the investigator. The appropriate concentrations may be affected by secondary antibody affinity, antigen concentration, the sensitivity of the method of detection, temperature, the length of the incubations, and other factors. The suitability of this antibody for applications other than those listed below has not been determined. The following concentration ranges are recommended starting points for this product.
ELISA: 1:5,000-1:20,000
Western blot: 1:1,000-1:10,000
Western blot using ONE-HOUR Western^TM Kit: For quick results, GenScript ONE-HOUR Western^TM Kit L00204C is recommended. 10 µl of this antibody is mixed with 10 ml of WB solution for 8 cm x 8 cm membrane.

Note

Small volume of antibody will occasionally become entrapped in the cap of the vial during shipment and storage. Before use, centrifuge the vial briefly to bring down any liquid in the cap.
