Methyl CpG binding protein 2 (MeCP2) is a chromosomal protein that binds to methylated DNA. It can bind specifically to a single methyl-CpG pair and is not influenced by sequences flanking the methyl-CpGs. MeCP2 mediates transcriptional repression through interaction with histone deacetylase and the corepressor SIN3A. CDKL5 kinase interacts with MeCP2 and mediates its phosphorylation, which suggests that they belong to the same molecular pathway. MeCP2 gene mutations are the cause of some cases of Rett syndrome, a progressive neurologic developmental disorder. GenScript MeCP2 Antibody, pAb, Rabbit is developed in rabbit using a KLH-coupled synthetic peptide within residues 310–360 of human MeCP2 (Swiss Prot: P51608).
Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with deionized water (or equivalent) to an antibody concentration of 0.5 mg/ml.

The antibody is stable in lyophilized form if stored at -20°C or below. The reconstituted antibody can be stored for 2-3 weeks at 2-8°C. For long term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing cycles.
Working concentrations for specific applications should be determined by the investigator. The appropriate concentrations may be affected by secondary antibody affinity, antigen concentration, the sensitivity of the method of detection, temperature, the length of the incubations, and other factors.
