The following GNGT1 gene sequences were retrieved from the NCBI Reference Sequence Database (RefSeq). These sequences represent the protein coding region of the GNGT1 gene which is encoded by the open reading frame (ORF) sequence. ORF sequences can be delivered in our standard vector, pcDNA3.1+/C-(K)DYK or the vector of your choice as an expression/transfection-ready ORF clone. Not the clone you want? Summary: Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G
proteins) transduce extracellular signals received by transmembrane
receptors to effector proteins. Transducin is a guanine
nucleotide-binding protein found specifically in rod outer
segments, where it mediates activation by rhodopsin of a cyclic
GTP-specific (guanosine monophosphate) phosphodiesterase.
Transducin is also referred to as GMPase. GNGT1 encodes the gamma
subunit of transducin (Hurley et al., 1984 [PubMed 6438626];
Scherer et al., 1996 [PubMed 8661128]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar
