The following SMARCE1 gene sequences were retrieved from the NCBI Reference Sequence Database (RefSeq). These sequences represent the protein coding region of the SMARCE1 gene which is encoded by the open reading frame (ORF) sequence. ORF sequences can be delivered in our standard vector, pcDNA3.1+/C-(K)DYK or the vector of your choice as an expression/transfection-ready ORF clone. Not the clone you want? ||REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The
reference sequence was derived from BQ707908.1, AK095047.1 and
This sequence is a reference standard in the RefSeqGene project.
On Mar 30, 2004 this sequence version replaced gi:21264354.
Summary: The protein encoded by this gene is part of the large
ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complex SWI/SNF, which is
required for transcriptional activation of genes normally repressed
by chromatin. The encoded protein, either alone or when in the
SWI/SNF complex, can bind to 4-way junction DNA, which is thought
to mimic the topology of DNA as it enters or exits the nucleosome.
The protein contains a DNA-binding HMG domain, but disruption of
this domain does not abolish the DNA-binding or
nucleosome-displacement activities of the SWI/SNF complex. Unlike
most of the SWI/SNF complex proteins, this protein has no yeast
counterpart. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].
