Abbreviated name-1 |
Rabbit Anti-GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody |
|
Description |
Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase (GAD) catalyzes the conversion of glutamate to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the principal inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. There are two isoforms of GAD, GAD65 (GAD2) and GAD67 (GAD1) (65 and 67 kDa, respectively) encoded by two different genes. The two isoforms have distinct intraneuronal distribution in the brain. There is 64% amino acid identity between the two isoforms. The highest degree of diversity appears to be located at the N-terminus, which in GAD65 is required for targeting the enzyme to GABA-containing secretory vesicles. GAD65 is primarily found in nerve terminals. GAD67 has been thought to be primarily located in the nerve cell body and has been identified as a major autoantigen in type 1 diabetes. GenScript Rabbit Anti-GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody is developed in rabbit using a KLH-coupled synthetic peptide within residues 50-100 of human GAD67 (Swiss Prot: Q99259).

Ig Subclass |
Rabbit IgG |
Storage |
GenScript Rabbit Anti-GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody should be stored lyophilized until use. It remains stable in lyophilized form for at least two years if stored at -20°C or below. The reconstituted antibody can be stored for two to three weeks at 2-8°C or for up to 12 months at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze and thaw cycles. |
Specificity |
GenScript Rabbit Anti-GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody detects endogenous levels of human, mouse, and rat GAD67 protein. It is predicted to react with human GAD67 according to sequence homology. Positive Control: mouse brain and rat brain
