DescriptionEpstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a herpesvirus commonly associated with several malignancies, particularly in immunocompromised hosts. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous gammaherpesvirus that can establish both latent and lytic infections. EBV is commonly associated with several malignant diseases, including Burkitt's lymphoma (BL), Hodgkin's disease (HD), undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and various T-cell lymphomas. It is also frequently detected in immunocompromised hosts, especially in immunosuppressed allograft recipients who develop posttransplantation lymphoproliferative disorder.
