| Abbreviated Name-2 | Major core protein p24; gag polyprotein |
| Description | GenScript Human T-Lymphocyte Virus (HTLV)-1 p24 Core is an E. coli-derived recombinant. The protein contains the full-length sequence of HTLV-I p24. Human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV) belongs to the family Retroviridae, genus Deltaretrovirus. It is a human, single-stranded RNA retrovirus that causes T-cell leukemia and T-cell lymphoma in adults and may also be involved in certain demyelinating diseases. Adult T-lymphotropic virus (ATLV) is a strain of this disease that effect primarily adults. Capsid protein p24 probably forms the conical core of the virus that encapsulates the genomic RNA-nucleocapsid complex. |
| Source | E. coli |
| Purity | Protein is >95% pure (as determined by HPLC-C4, and 10% PAGE). |
| Storage | Reagent is shipped at ambient temperature. Freeze upon arrival. Store at -20°C. |
| Concentration | 1.0 mg/ml in 50 mM Na-PO4, pH 6.0, containing 1 mM DTT and 1 mM EDTA |
| Stability | The protein will remain stable for five years if stored frozen and for six months if stored in solution at 4°C. |
| Specificity | The protein is immunoreactive with the sera of HTLV-I infected individuals. |
| Applications | This protein makes a good antigen in ELISA and western blots and an excellent antigen in the early detection of HIV seroconvertors. It shows minimal specificity problems. |
