| Full Name | | | Abbreviated Name-1 | MART-1/MELAN-A |
| Description | MART-1, or MELAN-A, is a newly identified melanocyte differentiation antigen recognized by autologous T-lymphocytes. There are six other known melanoma-associated antigens recognized by autologous cytotoxic T-cells MAGE-1, Tyrosinase, gp100, gp75, BAGE-1, and GAGE-1. Subcellular fractionation shows that MART-1 is present in melanosomes and endoplasmic reticulum. |
| Source | E. coli |
| Purity | Greater than 90.0% as determined by the following methods: (a) RP-HPLC analysis (b) Reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE coomassie blue gel analysis |
| Storage | Store the vial at -20°C to -80°C. If stored at the recommended temperature, this protein remains stable for 12 months. |
| Formulation | Purified human MART-1 protein at 100 µg/ml in 50 mM Tris-Acetate, pH7.5, 1 mM EDTA, and 20% glycerol. |
| Stability | Although lyophilized human MART-1 remains stable at room temperature for three weeks, it is best be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution, human MART-1 may be stored at 4°C for up to seven days. It can be stored for long periods below -18°C. For long-term storage it is recommended that a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA)be added. |
