Full Name
Granulocyte Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor (GM-CSF), human
Abbreviated Name-1rHuGM-CSF
Abbreviated Name-2GM-CSF
DescriptionGenScript Granulocyte Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor (GM-CSF), human was initially characterized as a growth factor that can support the in vitro colony formation of granulocyte-macrophage progenitors. It is produced by a number of different cell types, including activated T cells, B cells, macrophages, mast cells, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts, in response to cytokine of immune and inflammatory stimuli. Like granulocyte-macrophage progenitors, GM-CSF is a growth factor for erythroid, megakaryocyte, and eosinophil progenitors. On mature hematopoietic, monocytes/macrophages and eosinophils. It can induce human endothelial cells to migrate and proliferate. Additionally, it can stimulate the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines, including osteogenic sarcoma, carcinoma, and adenocarcinoma cell lines.
SourceE. coli
M.W.14,000 Da
Isoelectric PointThe main zone between 4.5 and 5.7 analysis by IEF
UV ScanThe maximal absorption wave is 279+/-3 nm.
PurityGreater than 95% as determined by
(a) Analysis by SEC-HPLC
(b) Analysis by reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE silver-stained gel
Endotoxin LevelLess than 0.03 ng/µg (0.03 IEU/μg) determined by LAL test
Specific ActivityThe specific activity was determined and has been found to be greater than 1.0×107 IU/mg.
StorageLyophilized rHuGM-CSF, although stable at room temperature for three weeks, should be stored desiccated at -18°C or below. Upon reconstitution, rHuGM-CSF may be stored at 4°C for short periods (two to seven days). For long term storage, it is recommended that a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) be added. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
FormulationThe protein is lyophilized after extensive dialysis against 2 mM sodium phosphate buffer pH=7.4±0.1.
ReconstitutionIt is recommended that the lyophilized rHuGM-CSF be reconstituted in sterile 18 MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
