larvae

Refers to the juvenile stage of most invertebrates, amphibians, and FISH, which all hatch from eggs. It is unlike the adult in form and is usually incapable of Sexual reproduction. It develops into the adult by undergoing metamorphosis. Examples are the tadpoles of frogs, caterpillars of butterflies, or larvae to hornets.
