src

An oncogene whose product is a Tyrosine kinase. The C-terminus has a Tyrosine residue that when phosphorylated causes a great reduction in its kinase activity, which is used to negatively regulate src. This negative regulatory region is often altered or missing in src oncoproteins, leading to constitutive kinase activity.
