screening

the process of searching through a library or other collection of recombinant transformants in the attempt to identify a clone containing a recombinant vector containing at least a portion of the gene recognized by the probe. screening by hybridization uses a nucleic acid probe to identify clones with a particular gene sequence. antibody screening is the process of using an antibody against a specific protein target to attempt to locate a clone expressing that protein. A library used for antibody screening must be constructed with an expression vector.
