quantitative PCR (QPCR) A method for quantification of a polynucleotide by inclusion with it of a known amount of an easily distinguished template as an internal standard to compensate for variation in efficiency of amplification. At the termination of cycling, the relative amounts of the products are measured by ethidium bromide binding and fluorescence or by incorporation of 32P-labelled primers.
