tailing
A procedure that is part of one method for insertion of a polynucleotide into a circular plasmid. Addition of a homopolymer to the 3'-end of one unit and the complementary homopolymer to the 3'-end of the other anticipates the annealing of these homopolymers and filling in of the gaps in the new duplex by a polymerase.
