zymogram

A slab gel that, after electrophoresis, has been stained to reveal the presence of an enzymic activity, e.g. a gel infused or layered with a protein substrate and subsequently treated with a stain for the protein to reveal, as cleared areas, the location of proteolytic activity. (see also zymography)
