difference Fourier method

A technique of X-ray crystallography for solving the structure of a protein-ligand complex once the structure of the original protein has been deduced, by determination of the difference in distribution of densities and, eventually, the electron densities that result from altering a crystal of the protein by diffusing the ligand into it.
