difference cloning

A group of techniques (e.g. subtractive DNA cloning) designed to isolate DNA sequences that are not shared between two DNA sources, e.g. cDNA clones prepared from different tissues, or under different conditions. difference cloning is distinguished from coincidence cloning, comprising techniques (e.g. end ligation coincident sequence cloning) designed to isolate DNA sequences that are shared between two DNA sources.
