disc-gel electrophoresis A technique for electrophoresis of single samples in an open-ended tube. The polyacrylamide stationary phase is polymerized in situ. During electrophoresis the ends of the tube are immersed in upper and lower buffer chambers through which it is connected to the power supply. The highly focused gel travels through the tube as a disc. (see also slab gel)
