Description |
E. coli derived recombinant. The protein contains the HHV-4 EA regions. Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is one of the most common and widely disseminated human viruses, and is the etiological agent of infectious mononucleosis (IM). IM, also called kissing disease because of its prevalence in young adults, may vary from mild to severe - but it is rarely fatal. Mononucleosis must be distinguished from a variety of other infectious diseases that cause fever and inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. A syndrome similar to EBV-induced mononucleosis may be the result of a cytomegalovirus or toxoplasma infection.
