Peptide Storage and Handling Guidelines

All GenScript peptides are supplied lyophilized and should be handled with the following considerations:

Storage Guidelines for Lyophilized Peptides:

Lyophilized peptides should be stored at 4℃ or -20℃, away from bright light. For short-term storage (one week to two months) lyophilized peptides may be stored at 4℃. For long-term storage, we recommend placing the peptide in a deep freezer at -20℃.
Exposure to moisture will greatly decrease the long-term stability of lyophilized peptides. The vial should be kept tightly capped at all times. The experiment should be carefully planned in advance to minimize vial openings and exposure to moisture.

Storage Guidelines for Peptide Solutions:

Do not store excess peptides in solution. The shelf life of peptides in solution is very limited, especially for sequences containing cysteine, methionine, tryptophan, asparginine, glutamine, or N-terminal glutamic acid. Aliquot the necessary amounts of peptide for the day and re-lyophilize any remaining peptide. If storage in solution is unavoidable, use sterile buffers at pH 5-6 and store aliquots at -20℃ to prolong the storage life.

Preparation for Use:

When preparing peptides for use, please observe GenScript guidelines:

  1. Warm the peptide vial to room temperature before opening.
  2. Weigh out the desired quantity of peptide quickly.
  3. Reseal the vial tightly.
  4. Store the remaining peptide in a freezer, preferably below -20℃, under dry conditions.

Repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided for both lyophilized peptides and peptide solutions. If peptide samples must be frequently or periodically taken from storage, GenScript recommends making a series of aliquots in advance. Peptide sequences containing cysteine, methionine, or tryptophan are prone to air oxidation. It is recommended that air be purged from the peptide storage vial and replaced with argon or nitrogen.

Delivery Specifications:

All peptide synthesis is subject to GenScript's stringent quality control. The typical delivery consists of lyophilized peptide of the required sequence, purity, and quantity and associated QC reports.
