Valent BioSciences is a leader in developing biorational solutions for agriculture, offering a diverse range of high-quality products, including bioinsecticides, biofungicides, and plant growth regulators. Their commitment to sustainable solutions drives continuous innovation aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity from soil to harvest.
Focusing on innovative cloning applications, Lisa Liu, a Research Associate, and Dr. Mariko Matsuura, R&D Manager, are key members of Valent BioSciences’ Synthetic Biology team. They recently met with Rouba Najjar, Head of Marketing and Business Development at GenScript's Products Division, to share their experiences with the AmMag™ Quatro system and its transformative impact on large-scale plasmid DNA (pDNA) preparation.
Since adopting the AmMag™ Quatro Maxi 1400 system from GenScript, they've seen remarkable improvements in workflow efficiency and productivity, enabling them to meet the rigorous demands of their agricultural product lines.

Liu: "Before we acquired the AmMag™ Quatro, large-scale plasmid prep required significant time from our team members. We relied heavily on multiple mini-preparations, which were repetitive and time-consuming. The manual kits, especially the gravity columns, were cumbersome, and scaling up posed continuous challenges."
Matsuura: "From a managerial perspective, the inefficiencies in our manual workflow were becoming a major concern as we scaled up our projects. We needed a solution that could meet our growing demands without compromising quality or consistency."
Matsuura: "We were already familiar with GenScript's excellent services, so when our account manager introduced us to the AmMag™ Quatro, I immediately recognized its potential. The novel magnetic technology behind it was a game-changer for us. After a highly informative demo by the GenScript team, which was both transparent and tailored to our needs, we were convinced. We decided to bring the system in-house, and it has been a transformative addition to our lab."
Liu: "The demo was compelling because it directly addressed the challenges we were facing. The decision to bring the AmMag™ Quatro into our lab was a must, given the clear benefits it offered in terms of efficiency and scalability."
Liu: "The day-to-day impact has been profound. The AmMag™ Quatro has streamlined our plasmid constructions, especially when we need large amounts of DNA. It’s integrated seamlessly into our workflow, providing us with a reliable pipeline for producing DNA at a large scale."
Matsuura: "From a broader perspective, the AmMag™ Quatro has allowed us to allocate resources more effectively. We're now able to take on more complex projects with confidence, knowing that we need to spend less time preparing plasmid DNA."
Liu: "The support from GenScript has been outstanding; their molecular biology expertise and responsiveness are unparalleled. In addition, some of our team members missed the initial training; however, our account manager went above and beyond, offering to come back for additional training sessions. This level of flexibility and dedication truly sets GenScript apart."
Matsuura: "I echo Lisa’s sentiments. The GenScript team has been a true partner throughout this process, providing the technical support and training we needed to fully integrate the AmMag™ Quatro into our operations."
Liu: "To any scientist considering the AmMag™ Quatro, I would say this: imagine not having to struggle with tedious midi preps or multiple small-scale runs. This system has saved time, improved our yield, and provided us with reliable consistency needed for large-scale projects. The GenScript team is there to support you every step of the way, making the transition as smooth as possible."
Matsuura: "I would add that for any lab manager looking to optimize their workflows, the AmMag™ Quatro is a worthy investment. It provides the scalability and reliability needed to support high-stakes projects, ensuring that your team can focus on innovation rather than repetitive and time-consuming tasks."
