These two antibodies recognize different epitopes.

Description Protein Red (cytokine IK, protein RER) is encoded by gene IK and was identified by its RED repeat, a stretch of repeated arginine, glutamic acid and aspartic acid residues. The protein localizes to discrete dots within the nucleus, excluding the nucleolus. The gene maps to chromosome 5; however, a pseudogene may exist on chromosome 2. The characteristics of RED and its nuclear localization implicate it as a regulatory protein and it’s possible involvement in transcription. It was reported that cytokine IK inhibited class II major histocompatibility complex (MHC II) constitutive expression. One study has shown IK cytokine modulated HLA-DR expression on hematopoietic cells has an effect on growth factor-dependent CD34+ cell proliferation and differentiation by regulating HLA-DR expression.

Reconstitution Reconstitute the lyophilized antibody with deionized water (or equivalent) to a final concentration of 0.5 mg/ml.
Specificity Product is specific for human Protein Red and this antibody binds with recombinant Protein Red in ELISA and Endogenous Protein Red in western blot.
Storage The lyophilized product remains stable up to 1 year at -20 °C from date of receipt. Upon reconstitution, it can be stored for 2-3 weeks at 2-8 °C or for up to 12 months at -20 °C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.

Working concentrations for specific applications should be determined by the investigators. The appropriate concentration may be affected by secondary antibody affinity, antigen concentration, sensitivity of the method of detection, temperature, length of incubations, and other factors. The suitability of this antibody for applications other than those listed below has not been determined. The following concentration ranges are recommended starting points for this product.
