Characterization of DNA according to base composition by electrophoresis, first according to chain length in one direction, then at 908 in a denaturant (e.g. formamide, urea). Mullaert, E., de Vos, G.J., teMeerman, G.J., et al. (1993) Nature (London) 365, 469-471
(see Kunkel mutagenesis (dUTP system mutagenesis))
replication that occurs outside the synthetic (S) phase of the cell cycle.
(= Y-joint)
A left-handed variant of the DNA double helix originally observed in a sequence of alternating G and C bases, but possible in sequences of alternating purine and pyrimidine bases. The purines are 'flipped' 1808 about the glycosidic bond to assume the syn conformation (as opposed to B-form DNA, in which they assume the anti conformation); the pyrimidines remain in the anti conformation. (see also A-DNA; B-DNA)Herbert, A. and Rich, A. (1996) J. Biol. Chem. 271, 11595-11598
The form of DNA at high humidity; it has tilted base pairs and more base pairs PER turn than does B DNA.
The production of many DNA copies from one or a few copies.
A right-handed double-helical conformation of DNA normally seen in solution described by James Watson and Francis Crick (1953). A second DNA conformation (A form) is seen in unhydrated DNA (fibres or crystals of oligonucleotides). B-DNA also differs from other DNAs (i.e., A, C, D, E, and Z) by having 10 base pairs PER turn, +36˚ rotation PER base pair, 3.4A˚ vertical rise PER base pair and 23.7A˚ helical diameter.
A signal amplification technology that detects the presence of specific nucleic acids by measuring the signal generated by many branched, labeled DNA probes
A measure of the density of DNA determined by the equilibrium point reached by DNA after density gradient Centrifugation.
