Breast cancer is a complex disease characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the breast tissue. It's one of the most common cancers worldwide and the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. Breast cancer primarily affects women, though in rare cases men can also develop the disease.

Treatments already exist for some types of breast cancer and more are in development. Novel breast cancer therapies are in development, particularly focusing on antibody-based therapies, antibody-drug conjugates, cell and gene therapies, and cancer vaccines.
