Chemical Protein Service Breaks Record for Protein Length
PISCATAWAY, N.J., Sep. 17, 2007 – Piscataway biotech company GenScript is launching a new chemical protein service platform. This service will provide clients with high-fidelity proteins of up to 300 residues. At present, no competing company offers proteins of more than 120 residues. GenScript can deliver these proteins in as little as two months.
The three existing means of generating peptides, chemical synthesis, native protein isolation, and recombinant expression, can take months or years to generate quantities of protein above a milligram, all the while running the risk of contamination that can ruin the final protein’s effectiveness.
This service relies heavily on GenScript’s proprietary segment condensation and peptide synthesis technologies. The proteins provided are, when required, completely functional. All proteins produced by these methods are delivered at a purity level of 95% or greater. Modifications to the sequence and backbone can be made upon request.
GenScript chemical protein services may be particularly attractive to scientists engaged in structure-function studies, but GenScript believes that its services will appeal to any researcher dealing with a strict time limit or high purity requirements or interested in proteins containing unnatural amino acids, chemical modifications for improved efficacy, or biochemical or biophysical probes.
