We mitigate our impact on the environment by maintaining an efficient environmental management system, optimizing resource utilization, transitioning into renewable energy, and managing waste. This also allows us to improve the efficiency of our operations.

Environmental Targets

  • Energy consumption: Reduce electricity consumption intensity by 5% per year
  • Water consumption: Reduce water consumption intensity by 5% per year
  • Emissions management: 100% of compliant wastewater and exhaust discharge, and hazardous waste disposal by qualified institutions

Our initiatives

  • Submitted near-term and long-term carbon reduction targets to SBTi for validation, starting our pathway to net-zero
  • Pursue ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification at major manufacturing sites, among which our enzyme manufacturing site has been certified to ISO 14001
  • Link environmental indicators to performance reviews of the management team to ensure effective environmental management at all levels
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments, covering 100% of our manufacturing sites
  • Regularly organize environmental training for all employees, covering environmental management, waste management, emergency response, and energy management

Our initiatives

  • Pursue ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification at major manufacturing sites, among which our enzyme manufacturing site has been certified to ISO 50001
  • Complete corporate-level carbon inventory with ISO 14064 Greenhouse Gas Management certification, and measure the carbon footprint of major products
  • Reduce energy consumption by renovating equipment, e.g. installing 4G modules to multi-split type air conditioners for remote monitoring and automatic start-stop and renovating the cooling system to improve the coefficient of performance (COP)
  • Implement waste heat recovery projects in different scenarios to improve energy utilization
  • Integrate renewable energy into our energy mix by purchasing green electricity and deploying a photovoltaic system at major manufacturing sites

  • Standardize the management of municipal water and construction water under the Energy Management Policy
  • Continuously enhance water management to mitigate water stress and water risks
  • Implement water-saving initiatives by upgrading equipment and processes and reusing reclaimed water
  • Shorten turnaround time and streamline processes to reduce water consumption in single processes

Our initiatives

  • Improve production management to reduce wastewater generation at source, and upgrade wastewater treatment facilities to reduce the concentration of pollutants discharged
  • Optimize processes, upgrade exhaust gas treatment facilities, improve the exhaust gas collection system, and engage a qualified testing organization to conduct exhaust gas testing
  • Manage waste throughout the process from collection to storage, transfer and disposal, and promote waste reduction, recycling and detoxification
  • Fixed delivery time and consolidated parcels resulted in reduction of waste generated from transport cartons by about 10%
  • Optimize processes to increase the success rate of R&D and minimize the discharge of waste generated from experiments
