In enzymology, descriptive of an enzyme-substrate complex other than the Michaelis complex; one that cannot be converted into an enzyme- product complex. In protein chemistry, descriptive of a partially folded conformer that is not on a folding pathway between a random coil and the native state. (see also framework model)
