This is a place where you can make a difference in people's lives by enabling researchers around the world every day. Best of all, I made many life-long friends here. A very unique opportunity to work alongside and learn from productive, intelligent, and heartwarming folks.
I joined Genscript in 2014 and started my amazing journey as an Inside Sales Manager. At GenScript, I'm inspired by the colleagues' dedication to provide the best service to our clients. GenScript is one of the fastest growing CROs in the field, offering numerous possibilities to explore and grow your career upon its business expansion.

The best part about life at GenScript is the expanding business growth. Working in such a fast-paced envrionment, I am grateful for those opportunities to learn new technologies and also work on many projects that can improve our working efficiency in accordance with our business growth.
As an IT Specialist, Project Management, we gather change management requests from all staff regarding systems use or any other business needs. We clarify those requests with our colleagues and prioritize them in a timely manner. By optimizing the system and responding to those requests, our colleagues will have a better working experience, which highly motivates me to solve problems.
Before joining GenScript, I was lucky to have a chance to network with GenScript employees. Even though they had no obligation to help me, they still spent their own time to answer all of my questions. During these conversations, I could tell they were enjoying working at GenScript and were looking forward to further growth. At that time, I was very certain GenScript is a friendly place to work. Also, during my first 3 month at GenScript, I can feel a sense of culture identity and a sense of belonging. I can’t wait for more adventures!

GenScript's mission to "Make People and Nature Healthier Through Biotechnology" is a very inspiring vision. I love that I get to help researchers try to solve the world's ailments and develop new drugs and technologies on everything from Alzheimer's Disease to breast cancer. It's a place where I can gain new experiences and friends while implementing my solutions and technologies and having my voice heard. Additionally, GenScript has a lovely workforce of talented and friendly people from all kinds of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
I love that GenScript has a partnership with Wharton Online to provide Ivy League courses that we can take to further our professional development and personal growth. You can take online courses at your own pace on everything from effective communication methods to coping with stress. You can use them as credits for various certifications as well.
Multitasking, for sure. I can now talk to at least 2-3 other people while still talking to a person to pull in a related expert to the call or find answers quickly while speaking to a client. It helps me get the answers a client needs as soon as possible to make sure there is no delay in their projects, especially when they have grant deadlines coming up. I like making other people's lives easier and resolving any issues in the quickest, most efficient way possible! That is why my clients keep coming back. That's what I call a win-win situation.

The best part about life at GenScript is its fast-paced environment and innovative ideas, including the development of novel products and instruments. GenScript is constantly evolving and looking for new ways to further improve while striving to be the very best. Moreover, GenScript’s working environment is so international and collaborative, especially after the establishment and expansion of its European branch in Leiden, Netherlands. This has resulted in more diversity and further flexibility to GenScript, making it a more international biotech company with a strong global impact in the Bio-industry. The entire team is supportive and professional and helps new employees become familiar with internal systems and all the versatile products GenScript provides. Any questions that arise are quickly and clearly answered. This friendly and encouraging environment enables me to quickly integrate into GenScript, while also motivating me, helping my passion grow, and further develop my career with GenScript.
After many years training and working in an academic setting, GenScipt has provided me with the opportunity to successfully change careers. This creates an entirely new setting with so many possibilities to explore and learn. I strongly believe close collaboration between industry and academy is very valuable in order to transform lab results into new products and treatments. Since joining the company, I feel I am striving towards this belief passionately, along with GenScript.
I was recruited to join GenScript at the end of 2019 as a Technical Account Manager (TAM), but my story begins during my interview process early in 2018 when I visited the company’s headquarters in Nanjing, China. I was very impressed by its facilities, new expansion, and especially seeing all the talents working so closely together as a team, regardless of seniority levels or position titles. At that moment, I strongly felt a match with GenScript and definitely saw this as a place where I could further develop my career. It was shortly after I returned to the Netherlands when I was offered a Technical Account Manager position with the European team. I was deeply touched by GenScript’s dedication in recognizing and recruiting professionals to its team. Recently, I received an opportunity to switch to a dual-functional position, encompassing both technical and sales aspects. This opportunity shows GenScript consistently encourages its employees to personally develop.
Gaining new sales experience, building trust amongst my peers, sharing ideas, and converting these ideas into real action. Besides my main responsibilities at GenScript, I have also helped with training new employees, expanding the European network, and Marketing. Two of my posts located on the GenScript European LinkedIn page in early 2020 have drawn over 224 likes/8,466 impressions and over 83 likes/2,665 impressions, respectively.

The best part of working at GenScript is the opportunity to learn and grow. It is not usually a high-stress environment, but when it is, everyone is very helpful. We are a team and everyone works to build each other up for the benefit of the team and, in turn, the individual. I sat conveniently next to two scientific advisors so I have been rather spoiled, and I certainly did everything I could to learn something new every day there. Being fresh out of college and still having a lot to learn it has been great to surround myself with people who know so much and want to pass it on to you.
GenScript hired me immediately after graduating from Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn in February 2018. Considering that most jobs in the biotech field are for Ph.D.'s, I was surprised. However, there were entry-level positions that just about anyone with some knowledge in molecular biology/biochemistry could take on. I started work at GenScript as a Technical Account Associate doing basic tech support, and worked my way up to a senior role in customer service.
Since I have moved to customer services, I have learned to lead others. With my background in technical support and biotechnology, I have become able to assist and train others on how to handle complex inquiries regarding CRISPR, plasmid design, peptide synthesis, and polyclonal antibody generation. This is the giving back that all of the team does because we want to build each other up to make our teams stronger.
I recommend anyone starting in biotechnology to look into GenScript as a starting place. Everyone just wants you to grow because you will be able to help the team more. The company truly wants to grow its employees and the more passionate you are, the better you will get at what you do, so the further you will go with GenScript.
My crowning achievement is being Employee of the Year 2019. I didn't realize how much effort I was putting into my work and right when I was concerned that maybe I was trying too hard, I got this award for being a great Technical Account Manager. The effort I put in was recognized and given back to me in the form of a little crystal trophy.

The best part about life at GenScript is the fast pace of growth! Almost on a weekly basis, there is a new product announcement or organizational change but there remains a general impression that this is all part of a well-executed plan.
As a new employee, I have faced many challenges mostly associated with the internal systems, but the overall environment is so collaborative that questions never linger long before an answer is presented in the spirit of moving forward. This has certainly enabled me to make positive contributions early in my tenure in developing the FAS program and getting out in the field to help our customers meet their research goals.
I am only a couple months working for the company but have already accomplished a lot. The rapid growth of the organization translates to great opportunities for those who seek new challenges and after my short time, I remain excited and happy that I decided to join the team!
I was very recently hired to manage the North American Field Application Specialist (FAS) team for the Catalogue Products Business Unit but my experience with GenScript actually began before I was hired during the interview and onboarding process. This gave me my very first impressions of the company and having worked for some large companies in the past, I was impressed with the patience and tenacity of the GenScript team in making me feel welcome and appreciated even before I was actually hired! My onboarding was also a very positive experience with fellow colleagues and managers all taking time out of their busy schedules to respond to my numerous questions and bring me up to speed.

GenScript allows and encourages employees to explore different opportunities in different career paths, business or technical, management and professional. It's a very friendly culture to those who are just starting their career or to those who do not want to do one thing for life.
Over the years at GenScript, I have been able to develop many employees and they have become top performers in management or top contributors in their professional team.
I joined the business track as technical support, sales and marketing, yet in all of these stages I was heavily involved in the operation and workflow optimization, including SOP design, performance management system and IT system implementation, as we constantly try to improve our operation. This was not expected but I am proud of what has been delivered.
I am grateful that the company takes bold moves to enable people. At GenScript everyone is encouraged to try things beyond his/her own level and domain. I was given the opportunity to practice marketing functions when I was at technical support and sales, which allowed me to discover my great interest in marketing.
The company grows fast and experiences growing pains, including immature management and incomplete management systems. It is a constant pain having to re-design our management infrastructure every 2-3 years because the company has outgrown the previous one. As management, we become used to it and spend significant time and effort every year on operation improvement and we become good at it.
GenScript is my first job and I have spent 12 years here. One question I get asked is do you feel bored at this company? The answer is no, because I have worked in 4 departments and managed commercial, production as well as logistic teams. Jobs here may be challenging, or demanding or sometimes frustrating, but never boring.

GenScript is very fast paced and people adopt new ideas very quickly. Colleagues are friendly, humble to learn more and welcome suggestions. The company is generous to its employees. I see improvement every day!
I am fully authorized for innovation and renovate our production processes. Many of my inventions have been used in our production lines, including one of the most effective cloning technologies in the world.
GenScript has a very mature management system. The company invests heavily on polishing every team leader's management skills. In addition to being a part of the management team, I built up a good mindset of "cost of goods" and the sense of how to commercialize the products my team developed.
The company culture encourages everyone to express his/her own opinions not only within his/her territory, but also to other functions. People are open minded and responsive to your comments. I therefore had the opportunity to learn from other team members.
Being a scientist, I previously was only focused on innovation and improvement of technologies to reduce manufacturing cost. With the deliverables, I found there was not much profit margin improvement. I later realized that material cost is just a portion of total cost. The depreciation of capital equipment, logistics and administration cost could also have great impact. This gave me an opportunity to gain deeper understanding on commercialization strategies and to adjust our goal according to the "big picture". During the process, I learned to think not only from a scientist's perspective, but also from production and commercial team's point of views. which I think is the key to successful R&D.
Speed! Before I joined the company, I cannot evaluate a project correctly for how much resource and time it needs. I used to think and project with the western views and speed. My Chinese colleagues usually surprised me. They oftentimes spent half or even a quarter of time needed in US to develop. My ideas could be quickly realized and implemented in the production line at an unexpected speed.

I am given a lot of freedom as a hardware designer, yet also ample guidelines and feedback. The former allows me to spawn, grow and experiment innovative ideas; the latter reins me into preferred application benefits, tells me what works and what doesn’t, which is very helpful for continued improvement for the products as well as my career.
As a Mechanical Engineer in R&D, no two days are the same. I might start with vendor visits where I communicate with our collaborators face-to-face to better explain our technical specifications. Those specifications might come from an earlier internal meeting with my colleagues to collect application requirements. I might spend a whole day working on CAD models, testing ideas on the screen and checking fits between parts as well as clearance along the way. I might also be in the lab, putting prototypes together and collecting data. Planning ahead and making efficient use of my time is essential, while being able to adapt to on-the-fly changes that come up.
After becoming familiarized with our DNA synthesis hardware layout, I made a few attempts at improving the chamber fluidics. The first one that showed significant advantage was very much encouraging. It was a great reward for the informative conversations with my colleagues, my iterative design changes and collaborative effort which finally brought it to reality.
I was allowed to take on instrument design ownership gradually and roles of project management. Associated exercises encourage me to start thinking on a higher level about resources allocation and timeline estimation, rather than detailed technical drawings and charts. I am excited about where this path leads to and ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

For me the team spirit is the best part at GenScript. Joining this company remotely, I did not think that it would be as dynamic as it turned out to be. The team I am on is super fun and hard-working at the same time.
During my first month, I felt a little disconnected and I did not enjoy that feeling. I reached out to my direct manager and he thanked me for letting him know and then he started including me on different emails that he thought would help me learn. This was not only valuable to me because I got to learn from those emails, but also because I felt that I am well heard and that I am valued.
I start my morning working on some prospecting reports that I can use later during the week, then I answer emails and respond to phone calls as they arise. Usually if I have any down time, I use this time to re-watch training videos. Finally, I prepare planning visits to clients’ labs, which includes visiting the most amount of clients possible.
