Description |
Histone H2A is the core component of the nucleosome. It is involved in nucleosome wrapping and compacting of DNA into chromatin, limiting DNAâs accessibility to the cellular machinery. Histones thereby play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability. DNA accessibility is regulated via a complex set of post-translational modifications of histones, called histone code, and nucleosome remodeling.
