Cell Apoptosis DAPI Detection Kit

Cell Apoptosis DAPI Detection Kit contains diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) DNA-specific dye that displays a blue fluorescence. This dye can pass through intact, living cell membranes, but apoptosis increases cell membrane permeability and uptake of DAPI, leaving a stronger blue stain. In addition, the nuclear morphology of normal cells is round, clear-edged, uniformly stained. Apoptotic cells show irregular edges around the nucleus, chromosome concentration in the nucleus, heavier coloring, and, with nuclear pyknosis, an increased number of nuclear body fragments. For these reasons, the intensity of the fluorescence can help researchers identify apoptotic samples.

Examples:

The morphological change of nuclear chromatin in apoptosis observed by Cell Apoptosis DAPI Detection Kit (L00312): P388 cells were induced apoptosis by 10 μM camptothecin for one hour at 37°C, and the detections were performed in accordance with the procedures described in L00312.
