The cytokine family consists mainly of smaller, water-soluble proteins and glycoproteins with molecular mass between 8 and 30 kDa, including haemopoietin, interleukin, interferon, epidermal growth factor, tumour necrosis factor, transforming growth factor, chemokine, and others that are secreted by the cells of immune system to regulate immune response.
