Description |
P2Y4 is a receptor that is activated by UTP specifically. Activation of P2Y4 results in increased inositol phosphate formation and mobilization of intracellular calcium. Although selective antagonists for P2Y4 are still lack, P2Y4 may play an important role in vascular diseases, and immunomodulatory intervention. |

Figure 1. UTP-induced concentration-dependent stimulation of intracellular calcium mobilization in 1321N1/P2Y4 and 1321N1 cells. The cells were loaded with Calcium-4 prior to stimulation with a P2Y4 receptor agonist, UTP. The intracellular calcium change was measured by FlexStation. The relative fluorescent units (RFU) were plotted against the log of the cumulative doses (10-fold dilution) of UTP (Mean ± SD, n = 2). The EC50 of UTP on P2Y4 in 1321N1 cells was 68 nM. The S/B of UTP on P2Y4 in 1321N1 cells was 10. |
