Baculovirus Expression System
The Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS) is universally recognized as a powerful and versatile tool for the production of large quantities of recombinant proteins due to its ease of use, high expression level, and ability to incorporate post-translational modifications. The GenScript baculovirus expression service package includes both virus production and large-scale protein production, suitable for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and academic institutions. GenScript has pioneered methods for the secretion of recombinant proteins from baculovirus-infected insect cells. We can produce milligram amounts of recombinant protein, suitable for functional screening and biological testing using either the customer's or our own purification processes. Our flexible services have considerable scale-up capacity: We can produce up to 500 liters per project.
GenScript protein expression specialists work closely with clients to clone and express full-length recombinant proteins from full-length cDNAs, EST sequence information, and genomic sequences, providing service and expertise at all stages of protein expression and production.
Advantages of Baculovirus Expression:
- Cloning of the gene (with or without affinity tags) into a commercially available expression vector or a custom vector
- Production of recombinant viruses using Bac-to-Bac system
- Extraction of viral DNA
- Amplification and titration of high-titer recombinant virus
- Optimization of foreign gene expression and protein production
- Scale-up of virus inoculums and protein production in suspension (wave mixer up to 100 L and shake cultures up to 10 L)
- 15N- or 13C-labeled protein expression
