Synthetic peptides, generally consisting of 2-50 residues, have emerged as effective therapeutic and diagnostic tools that overcome many drawbacks often associated with small molecule and large biomolecule drugs. Advances in synthetic capabilities enabling the introduction of various modifications to the backbone, side chains, and termini have made it possible to improve peptide properties and, thus, their therapeutic efficacy. Among various modifications, peptide cyclization has been frequently used to develop over 50% of FDA-approved peptides.
Our new poster provides a perspective on the peptide synthesis and optimization workflow, highlighting the strategies that have made these molecules extremely effective at the clinic. Lastly, the versatility of peptide drugs is showcased through their extensive therapeutic applications in various diseases.
