Phosphotyrosine is a tyrosine residue covalently bound to a phosphate via its hydroxyl group. A tyrosine kinase catalyzes the transfer of a phosphate from ATP to a tyrosine residue on a protein substrate. Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a key role in intracellular signaling and cancer development. Many tyrosine kinases are drug targets for different forms of cancer. Phosphotyrosine antibody specifically binds to phosphotyrosine residues.
