*This product has been discontinued!*
Human IgM (mu chain) Antibody, Peroxidase Conjugated detects IgM. Immunoglobulin M, or IgM, is an antibody produced by B cells. IgM is a pentamer composed of 5 immunogobulin molecules linked through their F(c) domain by the J chain. The mu chain is the heavy chain of IgM and contains an F(c) domain. IgM is the first antibody to appear in response to initial exposure to antigen, followed by IgG. The spleen is the major site of specific IgM production, IgM in normal serum is often found to bind to specific antigens , even in the absence of prior immunization making it a first line of immune surveillance.

Specificity Human IgM (mu chain) Antibody, Peroxidase Conjugated, was prepared from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography using antigens coupled to agarose beads followed by solid phase adsorption(s) to remove any unwanted reactivities.  Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, anti-Goat Serum, Human IgM and Human Serum.  Specificity was confirmed by ELISA minimal cross-reactivity against other human heavy or light chain isotypes.
