uridine

Uridine is the nucleoside having uracil as its base. Uridine (symbol U or Urd) is a glycosylated pyrimidine analog containing uracil attached to a ribose ring (or a ribofuranose) via a β-N1-glycosidic bond.

Uridine can also be regarded as the primary form of pyrimidine nucleosides taken up by the brain.

Uridine has a lot of derivants. For example, uridine diphosphate (UDP) is the most common nucleotide carrier for sugars, although cytidine monophosphate (CMP)) and guanosine diphosphate (GDP) are also used.
