16p12.1

Summary This gene encodes one of the SERCA Ca(2+)-ATPases, which are intracellular pumps located in the sarcoplasmic or endoplasmic reticula of muscle cells. This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP coupled with the translocation of calcium from the cytosol to the sarcoplasmic reticulum lumen, and is involved in muscular excitation and contraction. Mutations in this gene cause some autosomal recessive forms of Brody disease, characterized by increasing impairment of muscular relaxation during exercise. Alternative splicing results in three transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013]. lac of sum

GeneRIFs: Gene References Into Functions What's a GeneRIF?

The following ATP2A1 gene cDNA ORF clone sequences were retrieved from the NCBI Reference Sequence Database (RefSeq). These sequences represent the protein coding region of the ATP2A1 cDNA ORF which is encoded by the open reading frame (ORF) sequence. ORF sequences can be delivered in our standard vector, pcDNA3.1+/C-(K)DYK or the vector of your choice as an expression/transfection-ready ORF clone. Not the clone you want? ** You may select a custom vector to replace pcDNA3.1+/C-(K)DYK after clone is added to cart.

** GenScript guarantees 100% sequence accuracy of all synthetic DNA constructs we deliver, but we do not guarantee protein expression in your experimental system. Protein expression is influenced by many factors that may vary between experiments or laboratories. In addition, please pay attention to the signal peptide, propeptide and transit peptide in target ORF, which may affect the choice of vector (N/C terminal tag vector).

***One clone ID might be correlated to multiple accession numbers, which share the same CDS sequence.

Comment REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The reference sequence was derived from BX647367.1, AK291314.1 and BX537784.1. On Jun 30, 2010 this sequence version replaced gi:47132613. Transcript Variant: This variant (b) lacks an exon in the 3' coding region resulting in a frameshift and use of a downstream termination codon, compared to variant a. Isoform b has a longer and distinct C-terminus, compared to isoform a. Isoform b is also referred to as the neonatal isoform. Comment REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The reference sequence was derived from AL706356.1, AK128456.1, AC133550.2 and BX537784.1. On Oct 29, 2013 this sequence version replaced gi:530408164. Transcript Variant: This variant (c) differs in the 5' UTR and coding sequence compared to variant a. The resulting isoform (c) is shorter at the N-terminus compared to isoform a. Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the publications that are available for this gene. Please see the Gene record to access additional publications. ##Evidence-Data-START## Transcript exon combination :: AK128456.1 [ECO:0000332] RNAseq introns :: single sample supports all introns SAMEA1968968, SAMEA2148093 [ECO:0000348] ##Evidence-Data-END## COMPLETENESS: complete on the 3' end.
