Casein Kinase II (CKII) is a serine/threonine protein kinase with a α2β2 tetrameric structure. The 44 kDa α subunit(Casein Kinase 2 α) is catalytic and the 26 kDa β subunit(Casein Kinase 2 β) is thought to have regulatory properties. This is one of several forms of Casein Kinase II found in nature (1,2).
