Target Background Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 21 (CCL21) is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family. This chemokine is also known as 6Ckine, exodus-2, and secondary lymphoid-tissue chemokine (SLC). CCL21 contains four conserved cysteines characteristic of β chemokines plus two additional cysteines in an unusually long carboxyl-terminal domain. It is expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells and the spleen. CCL21 chemoattracts T and B lymphocytes and inhibits hematopoiesis. It can signal through the CCR7 receptor.
Synonyms 6Ckine; exodus-2; SCYA21; SLC; TCA-4
