| Target Background | SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2) also known as 2019-nCoV (2019 Novel Coronavirus) is a virus that causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to severe diseases. SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein is composed of S1 domain and S2 domain. The variant called Variant of Concern 202012/01, abbreviated VOC-202012/01) belonging to the lineage B.1.1.7 was first sequenced in the United Kingdom. It has some strange multiple mutations in the spike protein, namely, N501Y and A570D in the receptor-binding domain (RBD) and the N terminal domain, respectively. |
| Synonyms | SARS-CoV-2 S1 protein, A570D; 20I/501Y.V1; B.1.1.7; Alpha variant |
