GenScript’s SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test uses antibodies, in a traditional sandwich format, to detect the nucleocapsid (N) protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to provide a qualitative result of viral presence. Antigen testing is recommended to be performed at the onset of symptoms, or within 7 days, for best results. Due to the nature of infection, the highest amount of antigen will be present at this time. As infection and disease progress, viral concentrations wane as the body’s adaptive immune response takes hold. Confirmation testing by approved molecular applications is recommended for positive tests.
The neutralizing antibody test uses novel technology to detect antibodies specific to the spike receptor binding domain (S-RBD). Antibodies to this specific antigen are generated by the body by either natural infection or vaccination as the S-RBD is the critical viral component used by the virus to enter human cells and is the primary target used in vaccine development.

Samples from a cohort of patients were tested using the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test Kit. The combined cohort consisted of samples from normal healthy people (n=118) and samples from RT-PCR confirmed SARS-CoV-2 positive patients (n=12).
