Abstract

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the protective efficacy of DNA vaccines against infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) in chickens and to determine whether codon optimization and the woodchuck hepatitis virus posttranscriptional regulatory element (WPRE) could improve the immunogenicity of the DNA vaccines. The VP2, VP243 and codon-optimized VP243 genes of IBDV were cloned into pCAGGS vector, and designated as pCAGVP2, pCAGVP243 and pCAGoptiVP243, respectively.
