Post-transcriptional modification of a protein by the addition of a carbohydrate moiety. (see also N-linked carbohydrate; O-linked carbohydrate)
A series of metabolic reactions in plants and bacteria, the net result of which is production of a 4-carbon compound from two 2-carbon compounds. The unique reactions are catalysed by malate synthase and isocitrate lyase.
Descriptive of a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein, i.e. one that is associated with a cell membrane through an attached GPI group.
