Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a devastating pulmonary vascular disease characterized by aberrant muscularization of the normally nonmuscularized distal pulmonary arterioles. The expression of the transcription factor, Twist1, increases in the lungs of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension.
