Absolute fitness

Absolute fitness refers to the overall reproductive success of an individual organism or genotype in a specific environment without considering the fitness of other individuals or genotypes in the population. It measures how well an organism or genotype is adapted to its environment and its ability to survive, reproduce, and pass on its genetic material to the next generation. Absolute fitness is often quantified by the number of offspring an organism produces that survive to reproductive age or by the proportion of its genetic material that is passed on to future generations. It is a fundamental concept in evolutionary biology and is used to study the processes of natural selection and the evolution of populations.
