Aggressin refers to a virulence factor produced by specific pathogenic microorganisms, mainly bacteria. It is a protein or toxin that contributes to the ability of the pathogen to cause disease by aiding its invasion, colonization, and evasion of the host's immune defenses. Aggressins work by promoting the adherence of the pathogen to host tissues or cells, facilitating the penetration of the pathogen into host cells, and/or impairing the host's immune response. They may also contribute to the damage of host tissues or cells, helping the pathogen establish and spread infection. Aggressins can have various mechanisms of action depending on the specific pathogen and host interaction. Some examples of aggressins include adhesins that allow the pathogen to bind to host cell receptors, invasion proteins that facilitate the entry of the pathogen into host cells, and exotoxins that cause damage to host cells.
GenSmart Optimization is a free online tool for performing codon optimization to improve gene expression. GenScript's patented algorithms are integrated into the tool to optimize the computing capability of high-performance sequence generation.
