• Case 2: High Molecular Weight Proteins
  • Some high MW proteins, which are insoluble and usually expressed at low levels.
  • A classical insect-baculovirus expression system that can accommodate the insertion of macromolecular fragments is generally used.
  • Hi5 cells successfully expressed high MW protein (100kDa) with a purity of 95% and an expression level of 10mg/L.

  • Sf9 cell line is a traditional cell line used for baculovirus expression. It has many advantages in protein expression and purification, such as the expressed recombinant protein can be folded correctly and form disulfide bonds as well as accommodate large fragments of foreign genes.
