Accessories

While the primary organ responsible for digestion is the stomach and the intestines, the liver produces bile that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fats, the gallbladder stores and releases bile, and the pancreas secretes digestive enzymes to help break down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.

In some cases, the term "accessory" is used to describe additional structures or components that enhance certain functions within a cell or organelle. For example, within cells, there are organelles called "mitochondria," which are considered the powerhouses of the cell as they generate energy. However, there are also accessory structures within mitochondria, such as cristae, which increase the surface area available for energy production.
