A sequence in FASTA format consists of a single-LINE description, followed by LINEs of sequence data. The first character of the description LINE is a greater-than (">") symbol in the first column. All LINEs should be shorter than 80 charcters. An example sequence in FASTA format is:>Name of the sequence ctgcgagNcgcgcgatgatagMMM-NNNnnnnncgcggcgagcatgtagcatgctagctgtcgcgagcactUUUURRRrrrrrrr cggccgagatcaggcgatgcatgcgcagggagcagcgagcgacgagcacagcatgctagctagatgcatgctaVvvvcgtaggcagccgccgagagacgatggagctgcsequences have to be represented in the standard IUB/IUPAC amino acid and nucleic acid codes, with these exceptions: lower-case letters are accepted and are mapped into upper-case; a single hyphen or dash can be used to represent a gap of indeterminate length; and in amino acid sequences, U and * are acceptable letters (see below). Before submitting a request, any numerical digits in the query sequence should either be removed or replaced by appropriate letter codes (e.g., N for unknown nucleic acid residue or X for unknown amino acid residue). The nucleic acid codes supported are:cellspacing="4" cellpadding="0">A --> adenosineC --> cytidineG --> guanineT --> thymidineU --> uridineR --> G A (purine)Y --> T C (pyrimidine)K --> G T (keto) M --> A C (amino)S --> G C (strong)W --> A T (weak)B --> G T CD --> G A TH --> A C TV --> G C AN --> A G C T (any)- gap of indeterminate lengthFor those programs that use amino acid query sequences (BLASTP and TBLASTN), the accepted amino acid codes are:cellspacing="4" cellpadding="0">A alanineB aspartate or asparagineC cystineD aspartateE glutamateF phenylalanineG glycineH histidineI isoleucineK lysineL leucineM methionineN asparagineP proLINEQ glutamineR arginineS serineT threonineU selenocysteineV vaLINEW tryptophanY tyrosineZ glutamate or glutamineX any* translation stop- gap of indeterminate length
GenSmart Optimization is a free online tool for performing codon optimization to improve gene expression. GenScript's patented algorithms are integrated into the tool to optimize the computing capability of high-performance sequence generation.
GenSmart™ Design is a free online DNA construct design tool developed by GenScript. GenSmart™ Design has two design modules, the Create Construct module for individual plasmid design and the Create Library module for DNA library design.
This online tool shows commonly used genetic codon frequency table in expression host organisms including Escherichia coli and other common host organisms.
